Wow...Stephen Spheiler got dealt with.

But, about the books.

Ayn Rand- 'Anthem'
'The Fountainhead'

Read Anthem first it's shorter and you can see if you like her.

Ummm, if you like 'Da Vinci Code' I would recommend 'Digital Fortress' by Dan Brown I liked that one more. It's a v. good book. Oh, and I also liked anything by Chaim Potok but try 'Davita's Harp' or 'The Chosen' to start out.

That should get ya started :)

Heavy Reading:
Beyond Good and Evil, Friedrich Nietzsche
The Divine Comedy: Inferno, Purgatorio, Paradiso, Dante Alighieri (recommended translation: Robert and Jean Hollander)
Theory of Moral Sentiments, Adam Smith

Fluff (kind of):
The Count of Monte Cristo, Alexandre Dumas (because I recommend this to everyone)
Embers, Sandor Marai
Love in the Time of Cholera, Gabriel Garcia Marquez
