I can't believe come next month I'll have had this LJ for 4 years. That's kinda crazy considering I originally made it as sort of a throw-away, joke type of thing for the purpose of bothering Mel and keeping up with fandomy things when I felt like it. I loooooove Art Teacher, but they're both good. In any case, you should definitely include a Draco and the Malfoys song. If the person is an HP fan, the payoff will be really high.

Yeah, I think I will. I mean, lots of people have at least seen the crappy movies and it'd probably even be funny for people who haven't (unless they are the kind determined to hate HP without knowing anything about it, in which case, screw them).

See how this copy of "Green Eggs & Ham" is. I listened to about half of it to check and it seems to be fine.

And I think "Potions Yesterday" should be fine, and if people get weirded out or offended by "Gay Messiah", then screw them. But they probably won't, so it's fine.

Well "Gay Messiah" has some pretty strong imagery here and there is all I'm saying and I was wondering whether it might be enough to bother someone who wasn't even a homophobic jerk. I seem to have lost perspective on such things myself. I think I am including it either way, though.

I don't know that they would all qualify as ballads, per se. Actually I'm having problems deciding how cohesive a story it should be and how easily comprehensible without reading the lyrics. So as usual, I will overthink it all and end up sick of the whole thing by the time I get to the burning stage.

You should check out the site (www.swap-bot.com). Most of the swaps are crafty, which you may or may not be into, but there's some cute stuff too. And if all else fails there are usually a couple cd swaps going on, which is all I've done so far.

You are quite welcome.

And I suppose you're right that there are probably people who would be weirded out by the lyrics even if they weren't homophobic, but those people are clearly not people whose feelings one should be considering anyway. At least, so I have decided.

Non-ballad songs that sort of tell not-really-cohesive stories are awesome, too. I do love me some traditional murder ballads, though. And other assorted tragic/brutal ballads. And non-ballads. And semi-ballads. Not that I have a fixation.

Perhaps I will check out the site. I don't do crafty things, but mixes and stuff I can do. I haven't finished a mix in months, though I've started several, but maybe themed swaps would be good for me.
