You and I are having some very similar trains of thought and similar goals for 2008. I'm also cutting down on my fandom activities in order to live my dreams. Good for you, figuring it out at 26. It took me, oh, about 8 years longer!
Health all over is a very good thing. I've been working on that goal for a while and it does make so much of a difference in every part of my life.
Don't count all teenagers out. There are quite a few that are absolutely intrigued by the idea that the world existed before them. My almost-thirteen-year-old is one of them. ;) Mentoring is an absolutely lovely thing to do. It gives you a feeling similar to parenting, knowing that you've impacted someone's life in a positive way and that they just might have learned something from you.
And of course generosity through crafts is a must. Crafters tend to have big hearts and giving makes those hearts full. ;)
Thanks Jen!! I love reading your journal entries. They always really get me stoked about the future and having a family and that. :)
I know all teens aren't ridiculous! In fact I've been a tutor for a while, and I've really enjoyed working with them one on one. Combine that with interacting kids in the HP fandom, and we all know a lot of cool teenagers. En masse, however (specifically, the hordes at the daggum mall or on the subway), they are worthy of a mild tap upside the head. ;)
I've learned to love giving A LOT in smaller ways. I used to be so overwhelmed by wanting to plan massive charity events and solve the world's problems in a day, and now I realize that giving doesn't have to immediately change the world, or even the individual. If you keep it up for long enough, you'll see positive results and make someone feel good down the road at some point. :)
I have to agree with Pennswoods, the podcasting fandom or SpinnersCast won't be the same without out you. However, it's totally awesome that you're living out your dream of working for CNN. As sad as it is to see you go, what really is important is that what you do makes you happy and that is all that matters in the end.
I'm curious though, are you still planning on going to Terminus and doing the live SpinnersCast? Or are you done with everything surrounding SPC and the HP fandom? Because if that's so, I and the other SpellCasters are totally going to miss you in Chicago.
Aw, thanks Robert "Roger"! I'm not done with Harry Potter, but I'm done with many parts of the fandom, as it's changed an awful lot in a short period of time, and I think my role in it has changed as well. I'll still continue to love the books, I'm just moving to the outer edges of the fandom in general since I just don't have the time to keep up with the inner portion. You know me, if I'm going to do something- I want it done right.
I won't be performing with SPC at Terminus, and I'm giving back my free ticket. I still want to go, but I'm not going to make a firm decision about it until Mid 2008. I certainly want to hang out with you guys again! I had a lot of fun at PR and in California, so we'll see what the new year brings!! :) Keep up the good work on the show!

*feels the podwaves are going to be a very different place without Kim in charge somewhere*
Also, teenagers are teh LOLZ! The good news is that in a few years, most of them grow up and become much more interesting 20-somethings.

And I was SUCH a pain in the ass as a teenager that I think I'm a little harder on the teens of today! ;)
