Not a happy start to Christmas

Dec 23, 2023 22:01

My sister e-mailed me yesterday to inform me that my mother has died. It wasn't a huge surprise, as she was 94, and as she lived in Australia I hadn't seen her since she visited in 2005, so I had expected that it wouldn't really affect me too much. I was wrong. I was a wreck yesterday and I'm only just beginning to pull myself together.

I'm so sorry. I don't think it matters how old they are, or how not part of your daily life - it's always a blow. Sending you hugs and sympathy.

So sorry for your loss, speakr. Even when it's expected at some point, it's always going to be a shock when it happens. Take time to grieve, let your family support you and know that people are thinking of you.

Oh, no! I agree with Slaymesoftly - even if a lot of time has passed, it's still a blow. I am so sorry for your loss.

Very sorry for your loss. No matter how old someone is their absence leaves an enormous void. Be kind to yourself!

I'm so sorry. I don't think one ever feels old enough to lose a parent and every parent seems too young to die, even if they live to old age. Hugs and much sympathy
