Dude, hit me up with any questions that you have, because I am an expert in finding jobs in Beijing. I'm starting a new full-time job next week actually! It's not too tricky to just come here and then find a job.

But if you're dead-set on finding a job before you come, email me with a layout of what you're looking for and I'll see what kind of resources I can come up with to help you. What happened with Jingshan?

awesome, thanks :) i'd rather have my plans set before i arrive, but i guess it's ok if i just do job searching when i get there.

fu laoshi went to china over the break (she tried contacting you but apparently your email address no longer works) and asked about a job for me, but they said they'd found another place to get teachers so they don't need SMC anymore. sucks, but i figure china is teeming with jobs for foreigners so it's not that big a deal. there's also Cheery English School, Happy KidWorld International School, and (something in chinese) Engish School. i love china.

I wish I had known Fu laoshi was going to be here! I never use my SMC mail anymore but she has my yahoo address. Oh, well.

More often than not, a "job" here means having a few different part time teaching jobs. The hours aren't always ideal (some nights and weekends), and you often have to travel around town, but you can make Y8000-Y12000 if you can land good clients. Many English schools also hire full-time, usually around Y10,000-Y12,000 to work at the same building every class, but also probably nights and weekends.

Some job-hunting resources (some may not be useful until you get here):
www.thatsbj.com (expat magazine website, incl classifieds)
www.cityweekend.com.cn/beijing (another expat website)
www.craigslist.org (they have a beijing site)
