Six Degrees of Spectremeat

I just thought you guys might like to know some things about me that I realized today -- specifically regarding the famous people I've either met in person, or share a wierd connection with.

--Leslie Nielsen (The Naked Gun) went to my high school. Actually, technically it's his high school, since he graduated at least 20 years before I was born ( Read more... )

I don't really have any weird connects to famous people. It would go well beyond the seven degrees of Kevin Bacon. However I will direct a couple of friends this way because both roniliquiditiy and happybunnyyay have some good ones.

Here is one of my family's niftier ones: my great grandparents were friends with the guy that owned a local pharmacy/soda shoppe. My aunt used to babysit his son. That's why while my aunt was alive she used to get free tickets for my dad to the Memorial Golf tournament (the kid was Jack Nicklaus the golf pro).

Well, lesse... other than the game writers and staffers I know...

- My father's Freshman year roommate was Clarence Page. He and I still keep in touch. He's a cool guy.

- Marvel artist Sandy Plunkett lives in Athens, so I got to know him. He's also a cool guy with a lot of good advice.

- I know Andy Jones, who does the movie report on E! He was a real fucktard in college, and I hope he's mellowed out.

- Ohio University graduated - or at least hosted - quite a few notable people. Piper Perabo is one of the more recent ones, and Paul Newman was there for maybe a Semester.

- Dean Kohler (sp), who was the guy who was shot and paralyzed from the waist-down at Kent State, worked in Athens, so I got to know him by name.

I used to work as a stage hand in Branson, Missouri. For those that do not know, Branson is a town with a plethora of music theaters that cater to fat, old, midwesterners. Imagine all the gawdy crap of Vegas without the gambling, sex, and wildness ( ... )

I'm married to the second or third cousin of Jim Zorn, and that alone makes for a hell of a lot of connections.

My father's family line includes some Davises--first cousins to Jefferson Davis. Yes, THAT Jefferson Davis.

In that same family line is the story of Nanye'hi, Beloved of the Cherokee (and my namesake), so Sequoyah is probably in there as well.

My grandfather on my mother's side was instrumental during the early days of the Western Washington Fair in getting it started. (It's kind of locally famous as the Puyallup.)

If you drive north on I-5, the next bridge you pass under after the Exit 104 entrance ramps had its foundations designed by my father. Come to think of it, he worked on the anchors for the Lake Washington floating bridge, too.

Oh, yeah, her family tree is very interesting. At one point there's an entry that gives no actual names, just 'Indian girl' and 'Jesuit Priest'. Talk about the Missionary position...

I have been sent here by the Trisket to share strange stories.
--I don't know if Santa Clause counts as a celeberty but my father was a christmas santa for a good part of my life. My freinds have a sant doll that looks just like him. It's creepy.

--I've had Docter Demento puke on my feet in an elevator

--Gene Rodenbury Jr. has stuck his head in my cleavage

--I went to high school with the OSU star (then Patriots mistake)Andy Katzimoyer. (last name probably spelled wrong)

--I went to high school with Ewan McGregor's second cousin.(who's mom was the theatre director)

--I've met Jean Claud VanDam. He really isn't that tall

--I don't know if it should count but I nearly hit Peter Steel with a car.

I'm sure there are more but that's all I can think of at the moment.
