Are young-adult sci-fi writers inventing a new genre?

I recently finished Diana Wynne Jones's Hexwood, and was astonished by its format. When you think of young adult sci-fi/fantasy, you probably think of Harry Potter, right? I did too.

But Hexwood threw me a real curve ball. The story isn't just non-linear, it's multi-linear. The main character, Ann, experiences four separate events more or less ( Read more... )

Totally didn't realize you had a blog-- must bookmark.

I also have a blog, though one not nearly as intellectual as yours. Mine consists mostly of posts about poop explosions. Toddlers on laxatives are fun! Also my neurotic cats.

I hope we can get together the next time I'm in Austin-- or if you ever make it up to Seattle!

Oh no! You're in for quite a disappointment. I only have a couple of interesting posts, but there's quite a lot of garbage. Hope you didn't waste too much time!

Poop explosions sound awful... you have multiple occasions to talk about them?!
