Take a look at media mail. As I recall, it's a flat rate for anything under certain dimensions and mass. And yes, they use envelopes. But I think they also ship by air, which is faster than ground...

True, although having sent stuff via media mail before, I can say it's *incredibly slow*. I'm talking at least 2 weeks. I know the website says "7 days" but in my experience, the two times I've tried it it's more like two weeks.
I guess I could give people options on how to have it delivered, but I imagine most people will want to pay an extra dollar to shave off over a week of waiting...
