Ok, here is an odd one for the at home audience....
My daily driver is a 2001 Ford Taurus, and it just recently started displaying the check engine light. But it goes off when I turn the head lights on. And then comes back on when the head lights are turned off. Other than it being a Ford, I can not think what else could be wrong with it. Thoughts?

Electrical short circuit, that's what I think. Just have the headlights on when the next emissions test happens! ;) *kidding*

Get Autozone or whoever to pull the code and look it up in the intertoobs.

It's likely charging system related is my guess...

I have repaired several Taurus Instrument clusters where the copper strips on the printed circuit board come unglued where the plugs go in.

Wild guess - Alternator overvoltage brought down by the demand from the headlights.

It's not Hellcat?

Does it have DRL?
