I remember seeing the original trilogy in theaters (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return Of The Jedi), all the rest I saw online. I'll just wait for this one to come online. I heard it wasn't anything special.

It was pretty to see, and on a visual level it was worth seeing on the big screen at least once.

Hey, I actually liked The Rise of Skywalker! Sure, it wasn't anything super special or amazing, but I certainly didn't think it was a dumpster fire, either. Saw it on the big screen, and it got a solid 60%-65% on my Drink Test, so it couldn't have been a shit movie. It certainly wasn't the dumpster fire that was Event Horizon, which got a New World Record™ of -387% on my Drink Test; I wanted my money back and I saw that movie for free!

I wouldn't even make the rather unfair comparison between any Star Wars movie, and Event Horizon. Event Horizon wasn't burdened with a heritage to carry like the Star Wars were, nor did it have high hopes for it when the studio just pushed it out as popcorn fodder so they could write it off as a loss.

Now if you were to compare Star Wars with the Alien franchise, then you might be closer to what the real problems both film series are facing.

Admittedly, the Alien franchise is sadly short; the only movies done (as far as I'm concerned) are Alien and Aliens; everything else as far as I'm concerned simply does not exist. There was never Alien 3, there was no fuckin' Alien: Resurrection, and there sure as well wasn't any Prometheus. Likewise, there was never an Aliens vs. Predator and there certainly wasn't an Aliens vs. Predator 2.

It may not have had the glory of the original trilogy, but I feel that it satisfactorily closed the story. My heart was warm at the end... a journey that has literally taken my whole life (seeing Jedi in the theater is one of my earliest memories, and I'm almost certain my parents took me to Empire, too, even though I would have been only 1 year old). I feel like it's been a good journey, and well completed.

My only real complaint is in the terrible sword fighting they did. Especially the really stupid stuff where they held the sword behind their bodies and struck that way, leaving their front totally vulnerable. A simple sidestep and stab would have ended that fight fast. But then, I'm a sword fighter. Specifically, kendo, which was the primary form they studied for the lightsaber duels in the originals.
