Whoa. I'm falling behind in answering comments, but the muse was merciless today and choked another chapter out of me. Gosh, but this reads like the old detective stories that I loved back in the *cough* 50's...

Fifties detective novels! The perfect noir. I'm bouncing up and down to think you find this similar to those. (Except for the slashy bits.)

You know that when you think something went well, it always makes me giddy. I got stuck on the one-note sex scene. Sex, sex, sex. But I feel good about it, and now I can go on with some plot, which is always easier for me to write.

I've given up on trying to do long chapters. They just don't work for me. The bigger they are, the more I get tangled up in the do-overs, translated as nit picking. And the more time between posts.

Longer review today. I hope that means you're feeling well and getting strong.

Thank you, dear girl. I always worry I'll let you down by writing a real clunker of a chapter.

So far I'm pleased with how it's coming. I have to work for the next three days, but by Saturday, I'll be back at it. More complications and more of Angel making cracks in Spike's iron shell.

I doubt that Spike is ever going to heal the way he's going.

I seem to be obsessed with Spike's health, but your descriptions of his pain are so vivid that I ache just reading about it. But given who he is and what he does, I'm not sure he's destined for a happy ending any way. :)

Spike leads such an active life. Not condusive to healing, but he's use to it. He's always been a tough guy. Unfortunately, there's chink in his armor now and it's letting in more than pain.

*narrows eyes* No hints about the ending. The element of surprise is everything. *big grin*
