Taps always moves me to tears, too - I always remember my father playing it. I hope that the ceremony gives TBG closure.

It's always a moving moment for me. Thanks! His dad passed in 2005 and had been hanging out in our upstairs hallway. He didn't want our executor to have to deal with it, so he decided it was time. I'm glad he did.

I'm also pleased to hear it went smoothly in the end. And finally TBG managed to get a proper night's sleep.
I can imagine the cats *g*

Thanks! It's nice having it done and dusted. No worries about what will happen now and easier for Wendy.

I am sorry for your loss. May memories lighten grief!
I'm glad you got him resting where he would have wanted.

Thanks! We only have good memories of Dad now. He's been gone for nearly 20 years. Still, I think he's happy now.

Seems I am a bit out of sync with LJ these days. I didn't realize it was that long. Well done getting him there after all this time.

No worries. He'd been sitting in our upstairs hallway for years, but TBG wanted to take care of him before we passed and it was left to our GD.

I was at a military funeral/interment for my last paternal uncle some years ago. The gun salute and taps was so incredibly moving...I am another weepy one at such times. My dad also had a military funeral but I didn't make it back in time to attend so I remembered him at his brother's funeral some years later.
It sounds like a good day.

It was a good day, then best we could have hoped for. The cemetery staff was so great and supportive.
