Central sleep apnea in a healthy toddler - my grandchild, Emmy.

My grandchild, Emmy, had a sleep study done this month on the 13th. We got the results of that study yesterday, and she has central sleep apnea. It's a rare form of apnea that means her brain stops sending the signal for her to breathe as she sleeps. Well, it's a good thing she was brought in for testing. Poor girl, her disruptive sleep must be exhausting and her night terrors scary for the family.

I have a few clients with central sleep apnea, but they're all veterans, and most of them have head trauma. Good thoughts are with her, though! I hope they find a treatment that works.

That's the scary part - it doesn't appear that there really is any treatment that always works, and a lot of what works for an adult body can't be used for a toddler.

I love you so much! I know you're here and it does help - and Jenna is holding together far better than I would. But every nap and bedtime, kinda scary.
