Why is everyone always trying to act older than they are? Why is it so inappropriate to act your age?

Well, professionally acting older implies having more experience. Too bad I'm never professional enough to pull that off (any time I successfully pitched, I do a happy dance in my office) :)

Being young at heart rocks my socks!

You said it yourself -- act. What is it to act older anyways?

i don't know... i just always notice that it's such a compliment to "be mature for your age." why is it so bad to just be your age??

Maturity is all perception. Acting old is for the whack and ugly slash boring.

acting overly mature/old to divert attention away from a beaten face. so people are like 'wow [insert name of ugly person] is soooo mature', rather than 'wow [name again] is soooo ugly'
