Title: Transposition #2

Jun 17, 2003 10:25

Dear Friends,

Thank you all for your wonderful compliments to my first painting from the Transposition series -- branching out into new media while remembering the old.

Tranposition #2 painted on 18" x 24" gessoed masonite with acrlyic gloss medium, gouache, and menstrual blood.

Ooh, I like this one better than the first one! (Not that I dislike it, though.)

Can I ask two questions?
1 - What do you use to get the texture of all your paintings? Just by using enough of a thick paint?
2 - Do you only paint once a month, or are you able to save the blood?

The acrlyic gloss medium gives the paint a thick malleable texture. I never add water, it would thin it.

In answer to your second question, I suppose one could freeze menstrual blood in a jar. I haven't tried it. I paint once a month.

Mmm. I'd love to hang that first painting on my living room wall. Beautiful.

Oohwah! This is one of my favorites of yours yet! The angled pattern of the dots, and the way they meet in the middle...the red dot right in the middle of all the lime-greenness actually made me smile, there's just something about it. It has a great energy to it! :D
