Having read this, I understand even more just why it was so upsetting for you. I haven't been around much this year and I had no idea just how much effort you've been putting into everything for us.
I have felt awful about it since I discovered that no-one else had said anything either.
I've had a hell of a six months but I'm sorry, that's not an excuse and you deserved to be told. If I could take back the fact that I didn't say anything, I would.
At this stage in the game, the Lower City as a concept and independent group owes you as much if not more than the 'founders', and it certainly owes you better than that.
I really hope you can find your way back. Given the people concerned, I imagine that they will seek to make it up to you somehow.
If not, then there's poetry to be read, or other groups/concepts that would seek you in high demand.
"If not, then there's poetry to be read" - Goodness, hat was a long time ago. I wonder how many other people still get that reference?
My current plan is to play throwaways for a while, tasting other aspects of the game to see if there's anywhere else I can find as much fun as I've had in Flambard. While it's certainly true that the last time I played something out of the colony I had a fairly miserable time and quickly retired my native and promoted my chef, the gamescape has changed greatly since then and a lot of people for whom I have time and respect are having fun elsewhere than Flambard.
Well, I've been able to take comfort in the fact that the next Insurrection event is fast approaching.
It'll be nice to be at a simple easy-going event where my character is universally liked, has no concerns or worries and is in no danger of being completely screwed over by other players. Oh, but hang on....
Shit. I start this event in the custody of an oppressive regime who are not at all opposed to torture, don't I? And Insurrection is run by a design team who think that vivisecting a PC to death is funny... (Which, to be fair, it was!)
Guess I'd better pack the 'extreme physical trauma' make-up kit, at the very least.
(I'm really looking forward to the event, in case my irony doesn't come across in text!)
i) I have no doubt that whatever you have planned for Hendrik will be 'memorable' and 'talkworthy' ii) I'm still planning to bring kit for a new character. Not sure what he'll be yet, but probably won't be FoK. The late lamented DL2 set the orc bar so high that I not only wouldn't want to eclipse their memory, I wouldn't want to try! iii) And besides, I reckon the PC game experience would benefit from a Thaumaturge who doesn't hesitate to cut loose... Mwaha. Ha. And indeed, ha.
We really haven't. But then it's the company of JK that I enjoy more than that of any character you play and on that point at least we're making up for lost time.
