I second sevian about Wordpress. It's easy to use, it has a lot of customization if you want it, and it can be password-protected if you want it to be. You can also make static pages.
Still, I feel the need to write, and what good is it to work on writing something unless it is read?
Some things need to simply be written; being read by anyone, including yourself at a later date, is nice but unnecessary. Personally, if I don't write some things out - even if I lock them away and never look at them again - they'll stay in my head, festering and cycloning until I get far too immersed in whatever the thought/idea/emotion is, and I lose my clarity and ability to be objective. I say write when you need to, what you need to, and consider only after the fact whom you might want to show.
If you need any help with Wordpress, let me know - I'd be happy to help. I can also design you a spiffy custom theme. (Proof.)
