Snakes in a Park!

OK, not as exciting as Snakes on a Plane.  Still, I've seen tons of snakes lately.  Mostly garter snakes, which are still totally cool.  The unfortunate thing is that they often like to stretch out across the trail to sun themselves.  While hikers usually create enough disturbance to scare them off the trail before there's danger of stepping on ( Read more... )

Hopefully the transition is for the better! Reading your recent posts, it seems like it...

There was a decent snake population in the Fort Collins area, especially in the foothills.

Here's one of the residents, I coulda sworn I had a bigger picture...

Awesome photo! We see a lot of Prairie rattlesnakes around here, too. For some reason we had quite a few bite victims last year. OK, I guess it was only 4 -- but that's a lot for us. Ever treated a rattlesnake bite?
