Summer vacation had drifted by quicker than Woohyun hoped it would. He had a few dozen parties, got drunk more often than his doctor would recommend, slept around more often than his doctor would recommend, and trashed his house to the point his parents actually scolded him. They didn’t look very scary over Skype, however.

Overall, he thought he had a blast. Sungyeol and Dongwoo did too, since they didn’t leave his side for a day.

As he inspected his reflection in his full length mirror, he smirked to himself. He looked damn fine. His new uniform blazer hugged him in all the right places and his slacks gave him an ass - Woohyun was known to have very little tushy. He didn’t think he looked right though, so he ditched the navy tie, the white button up and the polished leather shoes. Woohyun replaced them with a black v neck and his favourite grey kicks that were a little worn.

A familiar tune sounded throughout his room and Woohyun followed it, finding his phone crammed between his bedside table and his wall.

‘Woohyun!’ Dongwoo’s cheerful voice resounded through the cell.

Woohyun rolled his eyes, jumping onto his bed with a thud. ‘What do you want?’

‘You’re not going to be late to your first day of school, are you?’

Woohyun laughed, checking the time on his laptop. He put Dongwoo on speaker so he can play a few rounds of whatever games he had - most preferably the absurdly violent ones.

‘I wouldn’t want to discontinue our tradition, Dongwoo-ah,’ he replied giddily, earning an infectious laugh and a quick Okay bye, see you later in return. On the first day of middle school, Woohyun, Dongwoo and Sungyeol had taken the wrong bus and were half-an-hour late to class. After that, they had agreed to be late to every first day, last day and just any other day they felt like skipping a little.

Woohyun groaned, getting off his inexistent butt. Looking at the mirror, he thought to himself, ‘First day, Woohyun. Make an impression.’

-

Woohyun arrived at the school an hour late - a new record for him, actually. Sungyeol and Dongwoo were already at the gate waiting for him like they always would, so they could be late at the same time.

‘We were meant to meet here ten minutes ago!’ Sungyeol yelled, pointing to his invisible wrist watch.

‘Sorry, I got caught up.’

Sungyeol nodded in understanding. ‘You were watching porn again.’

Woohyun playfully grabbed the taller boy’s ear, earning a high-pitched screech. Dongwoo laughed hysterically as they continued to swear at each other, up until they prepared to climb over the fence.

‘Okay, maybe some things won’t change,’ Woohyun thought with a small smile playing at his lips, jumping onto the school grounds.

-

When the three made it through the school’s front entrance, they saw a whole sea students making their way to second period - half of which were carrying maps, looking pretty damn confused. They nonchalantly joined the crowd, schedules in hand, and caught up with some friends they recognised.

The trio eventually waved each other off - Dongwoo and Sungyeol were in physics together, leaving Woohyun to get lost all on his own.

After about 20 minutes, he found his way, confidently opening the wooden door. The sound of scribbling pens, the teacher talking and people shifting in their seats immediately silenced. The teacher eyed Woohyun up and down, scoffing a breathy West campus. She angrily told him to take an available seat and to wear correct uniform tomorrow, lecturing him about not having his books with him. But Woohyun had heard the speech a thousand times before, feeling unaffected by the attempt to shove him into a guilt trip.

His sharp eyes examined the room, spotting only one available seat in the third row. The boy on the same desk was looking down, playing with his phone openly. He had caramel hair and milky white skin, navy tie done close to the top but still a little loose. He was in contrast to the rest of East campus, Woohyun noticed, as the other students had their ties done all the way up, non-dyed hair and were sitting up, promptly listening to the teacher.

Woohyun audibly sighed, skipping to the empty chair and planting his non-existent butt down. All the students had their attention on him, a few students around him gasped as he sat down. Woohyun’s ears perked up when one of them whispered to another: ‘He really shouldn’t sit there…’

Woohyun turned his head, checking out the boy to his left and trying to find out why it was so taboo to sit next to him. This made him scoff. He was totally innocent-looking and pretty. He had chubby cheeks and cute, rosebud lips. ‘Wow, I’m so scared,’ Woohyun thought to himself fondly. He was Nam Woohyun, after all. If this guy were to give him shit, he would give shit right back.

‘Alright class,’ the teacher yelled to settle the students down. She then approached Woohyun’s desk, leaning over him to tell the boy next to him, ‘I will have to go out for a while to get another textbook from the library. Can you be responsible of the class for the time being?’

The boy calmly replied, ‘No, miss. No matter what happens it’s your class, therefore it’s your responsibility.’

‘Oh, s - sure…’ she stammered and nodded, kind of bowing, before heading out of the classroom.

Woohyun found it weird how the teacher didn’t scold the guy for his back-talk, but he found it even weirder that the students were even quieter when the teacher left. He scanned around, concluding that everyone was staring at the student next to him, who was still examining his phone like it was the most interesting thing in the world.

‘So you’re the head of this school?’ Woohyun theorised. He heard a few of the other students gasp again. ‘Seriously, what is the big deal?’

The boy looked uninterested, replying, ‘What do you mean?’

Woohyun had to admit he had a nice voice, even if he was mumbling.

‘Even the teacher pays you bullshit and does whatever you say.’ The boy finally gave him some eye contact. ‘You must got something.’

‘You mean I must have something,’ he corrected with an indifferent tone, texting someone. ‘I’m student body president so people tend to listen to my opinion.’

Woohyun nodded, leaning back in his chair. ‘You know, I was student body president at our school.’

The little corner of the boy’s mouth rose in a lop-sided smirk. ‘So you are the famous Nam Woohyun,’ he stated, louder and clearer this time.

Oh yes, Woohyun really did like his voice.

‘Oh, so you heard that I’m the romantic, handsome head of West campus?’ Woohyun sighed, admiring his fame.

He finally put his phone down, locking it. ‘No, I heard you were an insensitive, cheesy douchebag that slept around from time to time for the kicks,’ he corrected again, smiling with a hint of contempt.

‘Close enough.’ Woohyun shrugged. ‘What’s your name, cutie?’

He scoffed, ‘I don’t know who is this cutie you are addressing, but I’m Kim Sunggyu.’

‘Kim Sunggyu,’ Woohyun trialled the name on his tongue, ‘student body president.’

Sunggyu gave Woohyun this challenging look, corner of his lip risen in a smirk that made Woohyun a little sceptical about Sunggyu’s previously innocent image. ‘Nam Woohyun,’ Sunggyu said smoothly, copying Woohyun’s tone, ‘ex student body president.’

Woohyun was going to say something witty back (or he was just going to flirt), but the teacher had arrived, dropping a textbook in front of him. Sunggyu gave Woohyun an up-down look, turned back to the front and ripped out a few sheets of paper from his book for the younger to use.

It was interesting, Woohyun thought, that this guy was treated like the head of the mafia. He noted that he needed to show this guy who the real shit was if he was going to be the top dog of the school.

-

Woohyun got bored really fast. The reproduction of plants wasn’t really his thing. After questions were written on the board, he got up to his feet, bag in hand, and headed out of the room. Sunggyu didn’t stop him, didn’t even twitch. However, the teacher looked like she was going to have a mental breakdown… Wouldn’t be the first teacher Woohyun’s sent to a psychiatrist.

He decided to explore a little. It was so much cleaner than his old school. There was no rubbish lying around, the floors gave off a clear reflection of practically everything, there was no graffiti on the lockers, and it was relatively quiet.

Well, it was. Until a student came along, playing Tetris on his portable game console. He had his tie draped over his neck rather than tied, white dunks and a little swagger (most likely clumsiness) to his step. Woohyun rolled his eyes, aiming to pass the guy without confrontation… but the boy’s equilibrium thought otherwise.

‘Yah! Watch where you’re going, punk!’ Woohyun growled, pushing away the boy who bumped into him.

The boy’s eyes gave off a cold sort of empty glare and his skin was like porcelain. He was about to start an argument, but stopped himself when he took a good look at Woohyun’s face. ‘Hey, I know you! You’re that asswipe, Nam Woohyun!’ he exclaimed instead.

‘What did you just -‘

The guy wrapped an arm around Woohyun’s shoulders, leading him somewhere in the opposite direction. ‘Come with me. I finally found someone fun to hang out with in this stupid school,’ he said.

They went up three flights of stairs, quietly stepping into a grey-toned and isolated stairwell. The guy waved Woohyun to follow him up the spiralling staircase.

‘Where are we going?’ Woohyun called, hearing his own voice bounce off the cement walls.

‘Somewhere most teachers didn’t even know existed.’

It was the rooftop of the five-story school building. The guy who dragged Woohyun there dropped his black backpack, stretching with a relieved sigh.

He sat where he’d stood, patting the space next to him. Woohyun took up the offer and seated.

‘I’m Myungsoo, by the way. If you tell anyone about how to get to this place, you are screwed,’ he informed in monotone. Diving into his pocket, Myungsoo retrieved two sticks of gum which he held out to Woohyun.

Woohyun eyed the guy with a crooked eyebrow, asking in a somewhat astonished voice, ‘Oh dear God, you’re the most normal guy from East campus, aren’t you?’

‘Afraid so, my friend,’ Myungsoo chuckled. ‘The only reason I attended this school instead of yours is because my brother’s a tightass. He says you guys are bad influences.’

‘And now look where the bad influences are,’ Woohyun announced to the sky in amusement. Unexpectedly, he had made a friend - a very normal friend.

-

Recess had come and Myungsoo gave himself a pat on the back for skipping the first two periods. (Again.) Sunggyu was lecturing him by text, sending him angry emoticons and whatnot. His older brother eventually gave up, knowing very well that they were meeting halfway - Myungsoo did all his homework with an appropriate amount of effort and Sunggyu had his little brother attending a good school.

Myungsoo had stayed lying flat on the rooftop a little after Woohyun, who claimed he needed to find his besties, left. The sun beaconed down, heating up the concrete. It was only a matter of time until Myungsoo was forced to head to a cooler environment. He headed to the third floor because Sungjong texted and said they were waiting for him at the music room.

But he wasn’t going to miss his chance. This was the very first day he had the West campus hotties within a 100 metre radius. He couldn’t just let an opportunity like this fly away. He spotted a particular guy, slim and tall. He had messy, brown hair and round eyes, cute lips and soft-looking skin. Overall, Myungsoo liked his face.

‘Target locked.’

The boy had his back turned to him, excitedly chatting to a shorter guy next to him about whatever-the-hell-pleased-him. No fancy tricks or pick-up lines - Myungsoo liked being straight-forward. He reached over and grabbed a generous handful of the guy’s cute butt.

He expected a slap on the face or a horrified scream, maybe even some returned-groping, but… He got something a little different instead.

The tall boy jumped around, screeching profanities, and flailed his arms in the air.

‘GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME BEFORE I RAM A CHRISTMAS TREE DOWN YOUR THROAT AND SWITCH THE PRETTY LIGHTS ON!’ he shrieked, standing with fists raised in front of Myungsoo. He also saw the boy’s friend facepalm in embarrassment.

The other student had a threatening expression, eyes narrowed and bottom lip being bitten. Myungsoo liked this face as well.

There was something about the boy that gave Myungsoo excitement - he had never had that kind of reaction before. It was new and different. ‘Wow, you’re an interesting one,’ he commented with a smouldering grin.

‘…AND IF YOU - Wait, what did you say?’ The boy looked dumbfounded, blinking rapidly.

‘Give me your time table,’ Myungsoo demanded, holding his hand out.

‘Why?’ Unknowingly (or rather stupidly), the other opened up his blazer and handed over the crinkled piece of paper. Almost immediately, he realised he had just handed over a whole sheet of personal information and snatched it back.

But Myungsoo had already read his name: Lee Sungyeol.

‘I’m hoping we’ll have at least one class together.’

‘W - Why?’ Sungyeol croaked, suspiciously inspecting the guy in front of him.

‘I need entertainment,’ Myungsoo proclaimed casually. He was always bored of the people at his school - they were always orderly and just so sterile. Sunggyu, Sungjong and Howon were a little dirtied up, which was partly why he hung out with them. Everyone else in the school was bland and he already hit on all the decent-looking ones.

‘So I entertain you?’ Sungyeol scowled - another face Myungsoo liked.

‘Yep. Got a problem with that?’

Sungyeol was blinking rapidly again.

Myungsoo reached behind Sungyeol to take his phone from his back pocket, finding pleasure in the way the other flinched and squeaked.

‘Give me your number too, so I can find you if you run away from me.’

-

‘What took you so long?’ Sunggyu complained as soon as Myungsoo strolled into the music room.

Myungsoo grabbed a chair and put his legs on either side, sitting on it backwards. ‘I was watching Animal Planet,’ he replied with a straight face.

Sunggyu raised an eyebrow at his answer, but shrugged it off. The group broke into a long conversation about how their morning went, how annoying the new guys were and how things will never be the same. Well, Sungjong was the one talking. The others just threw in a few comments every so often.

It seemed that Woohyun’s name was being thrown around the school grounds already. Sungjong predicted that the guy was going to be Paran’s new bad boy. It was only the first day, but Woohyun had already jumped up the hierarchy.

‘I befriended one already,’ Myungsoo said proudly - one being a West campus student. He didn’t want to mention that his new friend was the Nam Woohyun that Sungjong was hating on so passionately. He decided to let Sungjong meet Woohyun and see what he was like for himself. Knowing Woohyun and his playboy status from all those rumours, Myungsoo predicted that it wouldn’t take much for Woohyun to win over Sungjong’s easy heart.

‘So?’ Howon shot bluntly at Myungsoo, sipping on his bubble tea. Sunggyu always wondered why he was so fond of those sugary drinks. They gave him headaches.

‘Maybe we’ll get really close and I’ll invite him over here some time,’ Myungsoo suggested, looking at his brother in particular. Sunggyu, who had his feet propped on a music stand, looked back at Sungjong with a knowing smile.

‘No,’ Sungjong said sternly. The youngest wanted his group to stay the way it was - no newcomers, no leavers.

Sunggyu looked back to his younger brother, still smiling. ‘Sorry. I can never side against the youngest.’

‘I’m your brother!’ Myungsoo argued.

Sunggyu’s eyes narrowed, lecturing strictly, ‘And you also didn’t attend class, so don’t give me crap.’ The oldest was still pissed that his brother skipped both first periods. He knew Myungsoo was smart and he had lots of potential, which is why he was a little hard on him.

Myungsoo gave in, quieting.

Everyone in school knew Sunggyu was a guy of his word. In his position, he had the power to shut students up with a glance. The teachers never gave him shit about it because he came to school on time, wore the correct uniform, attended all the meetings, made the other pupils shut their mouths, and he was the top student in all of his classes (despite the fact all he did was write down wishy-washy notes and play Fruit Ninja).

You can even say the teachers were slightly intimidated by his presence.

He believed that school was a place to learn and anyone who decided to disturb the learning should be punished. Everyone knew… except the West campus students.

-

‘Where the hell were you?!’ Sungyeol almost screamed when he saw Woohyun approaching Dongwoo and him, getting angry at Woohyun without much of a reason. (Meeting Myungsoo must have affected his temper.)

‘Finding you? It’s not my fault this goddamn school is gigantic!’ Woohyun argued, sitting so his back was against the metals lockers.

Sungyeol mumbled, although Woohyun heard it perfectly fine, ‘It sort of is your fault that you can’t read maps…’

‘Shut up, ass!’ The older of the two slapped Sungyeol’s leg, making him run over to Dongwoo, mock-crying.

‘Well, I just got molested by some East campus guy and you weren’t there to save me, you meanie!’ Sungyeol wailed. Everyone in the hallway stopped walking for two seconds and then carried-on awkwardly. Dongwoo face-palmed for the second time that day.

‘It was quite a show too…’ Dongwoo sighed miserably, not wanting to revisit the recent memory - neither the embarrassment.

‘Shut up!’ Sungyeol sprung the killer pout on them, making them shut their traps, and then continued dramatically, ‘Anyway, he forcibly exchanged numbers with me and left into the sunset. Do you think if I can draw a picture of him from memory and show it to the police, they’ll catch him?’

Woohyun laughed at him, pointing. Dongwoo rubbed his shoulder and shook his head. ‘No, Sungyeol,’ he sighed again.

‘Life is so cruel…’

‘Do you know his name?’ Woohyun asked after gaining some composure.

‘His name is…’ the youngest of the group trailed off, eyes averting to his side.

Woohyun deadpanned, ‘You don’t know his name.’

‘Shut up,’ Sungyeol huffed. Woohyun was going to make a comment about how Sungyeol always told them to shut up even though he was always the one screaming, but decided not to after noticing how quiet Sungyeol had gotten. It was a rare moment and he needed to treasure it and embrace it like it was a newborn baby’s life.

-

Woohyun requested Myungsoo to come along with him and Dongwoo that night. Sungyeol couldn’t make it because the school called their parents about their tardiness and he got grounded. Dongwoo’s parents were on a trip to Vancouver for the week and so couldn’t get contacted. And Woohyun’s parents... Well, even if they were home, they wouldn’t give a fuck anyway.

It seemed that Woohyun and Myungsoo hit it off. It was probably their matching personalities - although Woohyun found the younger to be somewhat unpredictable and bipolar at times. Myungsoo texted his new friend his address, telling him he wanted to be escorted because he was “a fragile yet sexy piece of meat.” Woohyun played along, saying he’ll be there a little early and was willing to wait for Myungsoo to finish doing his make-up.

All good friends could talk like lovesick cross-dressers to each other, really.

Woohyun pressed the doorbell button to Myungsoo’s house. It was a pretty nice house - two storeys, blooming flowers in the garden, lights leading up the driveway and path to the front door. It seemed like a really inviting and homely place. It was almost dreamlike and enchanting, not at all like Myungsoo described it. (He called it the “yellow block with the light thingies.”)

The person who opened the door, however, was not Myungsoo. It was…

‘Why are you here?’ Sunggyu snapped, wide-eyed at the boy in front of him. He would’ve never expected the delinquent that sat next to him in biology to be at his front doorstep, dressed in a black tank-top and ripped grey skinnies, no less.

Woohyun, on the contrary, liked what he saw and smirked. ‘So you’re Myungsoo’s brother? Damn, you are a tightass,’ he chuckled lowly. He stepped forward, checking out Sunggyu’s sweatpants-hugged butt. ‘Even literally.’

‘What?’ Sunggyu sneered.

Myungsoo bolted down the stairs, pushing past his brother. ‘Hey Woohyun! Let’s go.’ He waved back and called, ‘Bye, hyung!’

‘Bye, cutie!’ Woohyun called too. Sunggyu confusedly blinked in return and then slammed the door shut.

After a minute or two of walking in silence, Myungsoo asked, ‘Why did you call my brother cutie?’

Woohyun raised an eyebrow at him. ‘Are you the protective-over-your-siblings type, Kim?’ he questioned.

Myungsoo laughed at this, stretching his arms as high as his black cardigan could let him. (Woohyun found out the reason why he always stretched was because he was always sleeping. Especially in class.) ‘Nope. Actually the opposite. If you like him, you can have him. He seriously needs to start dating.’

Myungsoo had always wanted Sunggyu to date. Every time a decent guy or girl picked up the courage to ask Sunggyu out, or even just to request his number, Sunggyu politely declined without a reason and walked off. (Myungsoo would then usually tend to their broken hearts if they were hot enough.) Strangely enough, this only attracted more pursuers. People liked what was hard to catch and what-was-hard-to-catch was definitely Kim Sunggyu.

‘Wait, so he’s never dated before?’ Woohyun almost choked on air. He had admitted himself that Sunggyu was pretty attractive - he found Sunggyu’s confidence especially attractive because every ex he’s ever had would hide their faces in their hands, ask permission to kiss him, and agreed with everything that he said. Frankly, Woohyun was sick of it. He theorised that rebellion was sexy.

Myungsoo shook his head. ‘Nope. The only thing on his mind is education, education, future, education. He’s no fun at all. Maybe you can seduce him or something.’ And then Myungsoo realised… ‘Actually, impossible.’

‘Impossible?’ Woohyun snorted. Nothing, no one, was impossible to claim when you were Nam Woohyun.

‘Well, highly unlikely. You’re not the only guy that finds him cute. Lots of guys and girls have pursued him - not as many as me, but the number is still very impressive. He shook them off somehow, without even flinching.’

Woohyun sighed, he didn’t have time for chasing. He wasn’t the type to chase because honestly, he didn’t need to. He was Nam Woohyun and everyone wanted Nam Woohyun.

‘Too bad then. I’m not much of a clinger.’

Myungsoo shrugged. ‘Me neither.’

AN\ Okay this is the most boring thing I have ever read. I JUST GAVE YOU NEARLY 4000 WORDS OF BLAH.
Guys, do you want me to continue this? I can seriously kill this off if you want me to. LIKE SERIOUSLY GUYS THERE IS NO CRACK IN THIS. THIS IS ISN’T RIGHT. I NEED TO REGROUP AND CRACK-UP SOME MORE OR SOMETHING. ALL THIS IS FLUFF!

I think I’m sick of the cold Myungsoo that just sits there. I would much rather prefer the playboy that flirts with everybody and is very sarcastic. ^^
