fire-orange tonite
thumping like an atrium
on the doors of heaven,
bleeding from so much hunger
Any more weight
and her edges may crack,
open up the kingdom
and all its soldiers to the earth will fall

The Chase

you've come back to say
you've traveled this way,
laid in my bed
where once I was found weeping,
climbed through my window
when all others were sleeping,
and held me once again
within the soft envelope of your embrace,
within the entanglement of legs
to wallow within
the eternal breathlessness of the chase
