surely Heaven waits for you

Once upon a time, musicians had to sound good without Autotune and a metric ton of studio processing in order to be successful - it was the rule, rather than the exception.
This is the best version of "Wayward Son" in terms of the live vocals.

That might be the first time I've seen a group of musicians handle their instruments so spectacularly well without once thinking any of them were hot. Even slightly.

I know, right?
I couldn't believe that lead singer's organ-playing.

It was weird for me because I've found odd-looking people attractive based on pure talent so many times before - Nick Cave being a good example - but with Kansas, the party was entirely in my ears. No pants involved.

On a sort-of-unrelated-but-kinda-relevant tangent, it makes me a little sad that the music industry nowadays is so oriented on physical attractiveness first, talent second.

Don't get me wrong, I like my rockstars to be that excellent blend of sexy and stupidly talented, but when it comes down to it, I'd rather have a band like Kansas than a bunch of mediocre prettyboys.

Conclusion: pedophile mustaches give you a serious set of pipes.

I whole-heartedly support this thesis.

Elaboration: the popularity of mustaches in the 1970s was directly responsible for the incredible amount of excellent music produced during that time period (for evidence, see the near-disappearance of the mustache over the last four decades, and the corresponding downward spiral in the music industry)

Rebuttal: it is the cumulative power of the mustache that makes it a mighty force for epic rockstardom.
Much like a lone Zergling, a single mustache is relatively weak, but once united with its bretheren, it is a force to be reckoned with.
