[Alex shoved the stupid little bean stuck in his pocket into the dirt of one of Edel’s plants before setting off, just before the sun rose.

he’s been very careful about a single thing and careless about the rest, but he’s finally, finally done it. blood - not his - is soaking the ground near his feet, and the animal is dead and no one or no thing

[the baseball diamond has less value to Fexis than it does to Alex, and there was not much to start. the body limps, and Fexis sees while Alex does not, and it shrinks down tiny and coils onto his back unseen to push him along as the fresh body draws near.]

[Wooden practice sword strapped to her back Makoto is looking forward to practicing a bit on the field today. Maybe after some sword training she work on her hitting with the automated pitcher. It would depend how her arms felt.

Stopping her bike by the back fence her nose crinkles a little. Did something smell weird? Looking around she finally spots the form of another kind of shuffling? Limping maybe?

Oh! It was that odd guy from once before. The one who didn't wear any shoes...]

Hey there, are you okay?

[without Fexis to tow him, Alex loses forward motion, swaying and dropping to the ground in a heap. the creature slithers fast underneath, rather put off by this lack of motivation, but what can it do? it can numb the direst wounds and lie in wait.]

[tokiokakeru]

[Makoto moves to action when he falls, dashing over to him. As she nears the strange, really kind of gross smell gets stronger and she notices that the boy looks pretty damn beat up. Is all that dark stuff blood???]

Oh... Oh my god... what happened to you? H-Hold on, okay? I'll call for help!

[She starts to pull out her seal, wondering who she should call.]

[mongoosegrin]

[Fexis waits, shrunken and coiled under Alex's throat, watching the girl. when it sees her readying to call for help, it lunges like a snake, teeth multiplying and filling its face.]

[tokiokakeru]

[The girl shrieks as some thing is suddenly biting and scratching at her face. Her seal is dropped as she brings her hands up to try and pull or beat it away, crying out in a mixture of pain and fear.]

[mongoosegrin]

[it swarms and slithers downward, nipping at the hands and fingers trying to swat at it, down her thigh and leaping back to Alex's head. there it swells, growing twice its size and pulls the boy up, vacant-eyed and drooling red out of the corner of his mouth, to his feet, swaying back a step and turning, staggering into a steady pace to leave the girl to her pain. there's no time to waste playing around; something was coming.]

[She stumbles back a little feeling it, whatever it was, sliding over her body. The initial relief she feels at its departure is cut short when she notices Alex standing. His expression is haunting and a deep shiver makes its way down her spine, masking the throbbing pain from the cuts and bites on her face and hands for a brief moment.

Makoto is silently thankful as he moves away, sinking to her knees.]

What... what was... that...

[Somehow it feels like she got off easy. It's not a pleasant feeling though. With hands shaking a little she patted down the grass looking for her seal. Once she finds it she holds on to it tightly. She can hear the overlap of voices calling for help or warning others. Muting them for the moment she calls out to one person in particular.]

Trunks... [Her voice is a bit shaky] Trunks are you there?

[It's over Metropolis where Trunks gets a clear fix on Alex. His ki is moving past the baseball field, seems slower (dimmer? erratic?) after encountering several others back in Wonderland. It's small relief: a few more had dulled and gone out before he left. The seal is still a mess of transmissions for help, worry, warning. No word of any Local showing up.

He clenches his teeth and presses onward, ignoring the flare of his injuries. This shouldn't be happening, this has to stop, not again, we have to stop it, do somet-

Trunks brakes suddenly, to the protest of his body, and listens hard to the voice.

His tone is quite agitated:] ... Makoto?

Makoto!

Yes, I'm here! Are you alright?!

[tokiokakeru]

[Oh thank God he answered... Right after she had called for him the thought that he might not respond had flashed through her mind. Her voice is filled with relief as she replies.]

I'm okay... some how... I think I ran into the guy everyone is talking about over the seal... He just suddenly left though. Are you all right?

[She decides to gloss over the fact that her face is scratched up to all hell. There's no need to have him worry him about that when he's probably worrying about everyone else already.]

[She's okay.

He sags in relief. Not everyone's been as lucky.]

I ran into him earlier. I'll.... manage. [She's going to see for herself anyway.]

Where are you? Is anyone with you?

[Makoto doesn't like how he phrased his response... He'll manage? What the hell was that supposed to mean?! Ahh, if he ran into that guy before then was he attacked too?

Worry mode engaged.]

I'm at the park, by the baseball field. There's no one else here right now. Are you nearby?

Right over Metropolis.

Sit tight - I'm coming.

[He puts on a burst of speed and streaks like a comet towards the field.]

O-Okay!

[Don't have to tell her twice. She totally doesn't want to go bumping into the crazy zombie face guy again. While she waits she wishes for a small mirror and a dampened hand towel to attempt cleaning up her face.]

[Five minutes in, Trunks cuts across the skyline of the baseball field. In the broad daylight he easily spots Makoto, even with one bad eye.

He descends a bit too abruptly, landing with a heavy limp, but he steadies himself onto his knees beside her.]

Makoto! Hey, you-

[His hand freezes just above her shoulder. He smells fresh blood that isn't his, before he sees the bloody towel she's holding. And her hands. And her face.

His voice is quiet, but hard.]

You.... you said you were alright.

[tokiokakeru]

[Makoto almost falls over in surprise at hearing Trunks' landing and takes up what she believes is a defensive position... which is just her hugging her arms up to her chest as she slowly looks up at him.

Her eyes widen as she takes in the sight of the other. His previous statement suddenly makes sense. She doesn't even hear what he just said.]
