Brighton's West Pier

So I was just idly flipping through the nonsense that is ONTD, when I stumbled upon a post on Sweeney Todd. I know absolutely nothing about this musical other than it's with Johnny Depp and there's murdering... or... something. And such. Rather. Quite. ANYWAY, I was looking at the pictures when I saw one that looked quite a lot like the West Pier ( Read more... )

This. Was a wonderful read. The pictures are incredible, and it's pretty cool that you lived right down the street/were able to see something with that kind of story, background.

Thank you! I am glad somebody appreciated it. I just saw that picture and it all flooded back and I had to get all of that experience out of me. :) Thanks for the comment, sweetpea.

Sweeney Todd is one of the best musicals ever. I'd call it more of an operetta, really. Steven Sondheim is my hero. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp will undoubtedly ruin it in film form.

I suggest getting the PBS recording of the original cast(which includes Angela Lansbury)from Netflix. You'll love it! =]

Saw your post about leaving Atlanta, which Ive also recently done, but still kinda jonesin for a bit of southern charm, and wandered over here, to see what your move was about.

My Dad was shot at by a german fighter plane during the second world war, while standing on Brighton pier!

You do know Sweeney Todd was a London Barber?, so Im guessing thats the connection with it being in the current movie.

Oh and lastly if you want a really good run down on the history of Brighton and its Monarchs. check this out. http://www.btinternet.com/~ted.power/rp00.html
