Finally, after an endless battle with two different calculators and a mobile phone, and after redoing the sums a grand total of three times to be sure they were accurate, I present:
Yay Angst! I'm really glad that my team won, but I'll admit freely that I noticed a discrepancy amongst the votes. Skitty and I were talking about how someone had voted really really low on her story because they were having a bad day or something. That was a bit...bizarre. I think a poll might be something to consider for voting. It might make things easier in the end.
I really enjoyed this whole experience. I'd definitely do it again.
I didn't put a date for another round, but I think it'd be nice to do it before the new season starts in September or maybe around the release of the DVD set in August.
Thanks so much for the rose and for running this challenge!
I'm so glad that someone said something because there was simply no cause for that. The vote they left on Skitty's story was completely insulting and uncalled for even if they had genuinely felt the plot/storyline was lacking or whatever. I didn't read a single story in the entire event that deserved a rating of 6.
I'm always a little worried about open voting on pieces with no scale for comparison because there's always that one person who ruins it for everyone. I think maybe a scale could help for people who don't have a basis for comparison?
Like: 10, excellent use of keyword, grammatically and structurally sound throughout with exemplary characterization/plausibility 9, very good use of keyword, grammatically and structurally sound through majority of piece and containing good characterization/plausibility
If that makes sense. I don't know. There were just a few comments where people had never scored before so they left random ratings, I think. A scale might also lower the rate of people voting to skew the ratings.
Thanks so much for doing all of this, nymeria! I truly enjoyed reading all of these. Perhaps next round, I'll actually sign up and write something! =D
Hmmm, perhaps next round is Wincest vs. J(2, with angst & schmoop being put head-to-head on the same day so one doesn't get higher points depending on voters' moods? The pitfall in that is if people's preferences in RPS or character slash really pull sway, of course, but it's just an idea. Otherwise I voted for Sam/Dean up above. =D

Thank you so much for running this. I've never been involved in a challenge like this before and I had a great deal of fun.
