Hi. Welcome to spn_north. Consider this the Canadian version of spn_50states. In the claiming of states over there, some interest was generated in claiming provinces, so I figured why the hell not. Show's filmed in Canada, Dean doesn't even have to get on a doomed airplane to get here, let's do it ( Read more... )

sweet revenge indeed!

My icon is the closest I could find to the kitten I brought home today. I had a moment where naming him Dean crossed my mind. When I was talking online with someone tonight, a Golden Retriever had been bought and was being called Sammy.

shit kids, there are a LOT of regional things to play with. I mean, I'm from Ottawa originally, and there are EASILY a dozen EXTREMELY haunted places there. Algonquin Park, aside from being an ideal location for, well, anything, has its own legends. The Maritimes have a completely different set of legends and lore brought over from the olde country than the Prairies will. Why not just let people claim anywhere they like? Limit it to 2 or 3 per place, and I'm sure we'll be able to accomodate. Especially if someone wants to do something like the ghost at Lisgar Collegiate in Ottawa, and someone else wants to do some kind of Sasquatch at Hog's Back in Ottawa. Very different, no? Add in old wives' tales, etc. and there are easily a lot of things one can do in any city or province.

Though, I gotta say, now that I live in Saskatchewan? Unless I want to do a haunted museum in Regina, the train lights near Prince Albert, or crop circles in the endless wheat or canola, my pickings are slim around here.

I like this idea a lot and if one area gets too much love you can stop accepting claims there.

One good starting point for knowing what some of the supernatural stuff going on in Canada is John Robert Colombo's books. He's gathered newpaper articles and written account from people who have expereienced them.

Whatever the verdict ends up being, I'll definitely be signing up.

I'm from Vancouver, and considering the show is FILMED here, it's awesome that there's a similar fic challenge with a Canadian theme!!

I can't even tell you how excited I am about this.

I'm from the "exact middle" of Canada (Thunder Bay, ON) and apparently that has spiritual connections (although sadly, our biggest myths involve Sasquatch and Windigo, which aren't exactly original). If nothing else, this will totally be a fun research project regarding supernatural and other areas in Canada! *dork*
