The noise I made at that ending just wasn't human. I've been at Toronto Con all weekend, so I was emotionally precarious as it is, and I almost didn't want to read it because I knew I would just have far too many feelings and yep, I was right, hello thank you. That final line, even more than the space sex and the freaking out over Sam having visions of Cas dying (I thought for just a minute there you were gonna do it and i'd NEVER HAVE FORGIVEN YOU FOR IT) and the Righteous Man drawing power from love and okay basically everything, that final line just GOT me right in the heart. Yes. It's everything I've ever wanted

Thank you so very much. Sword and I had various scenarios we brainstormed for this, and at one point we didn't go end!verse at all - we basically left them at Bobby's. And alongside that we had an alternate ending that was very dystopian, in which Cas and Dean remained in Hell and basically ruled it, with Bobby and Sam finding Cas dead in the car. She and I are both very flexible of thought, and we constantly revised and plotted and looped back and drove off at tangents. And this is where it ended. We wanted very much for it not to be bleak, to give them all what they needed to be able to ensure that 2014 Zachariah showed Dean would never happen. We also wanted to seed plot points for a possible follow-up (she and I are thinking about a possible joint co-write follow-up, but if that does happen it won't be for a while, since we are both burnt out from this project tbqh). But like you said, we also wanted to leave it at a point where it could be left if we don't feel motivated to do that. We feel this is it, but whatever happens, she

There was a lot of brainstorming and everything, especially the 2014 aspects and Zat really had some dynamic ideas on how Redemption Road's events might effect the outcome, which I think is great in the sense that 2014 per canon doesn't have to be inevitable -- it just might be something different and unexpected! And the fact is, the brothers and Castiel thrown in to the mix -- they're going to want to fix the world if it's broken.
