Destina's stuff always leaves me a bit conflicted. Her YED!John/Dean noncon fic is seriously one of my all time favorites in fandom and her grip on the characters, the style of her writing, and the pacing of it makes it one of the best out there. It's a fantastic story.
But I've never been able to get as much into her other stuff. The characterization doesn't work as well for me, the plotting isn't as tight or something, IDK. But Night Country is so amazing, I'd forgive her just about anything. This one sounds intriguing, so I'll probably end up giving it a shot.

I'm torn, because I like Destina's writing, but I don't know if I have the energy to read a long canon-divergent AU. It's my least favorite genre, after current-canon-compliant (ideally set immediately after canon last ended), or future fic, or massively AU. I feel that's unusual, that I'd rather read about Sam and Dean being surfers than a fic where they make a different choice or something else happens within existing canon. I just find it kind of dull and pointless.

This art post is still locked, too. Which makes me 1 for 3, in the seeing the art whose link I click on category. Did none of these people think to set up a time to mutually unlock or are the authors just quick on the draw?

An author who I like who writes a Dean that I love but is crossing over with a fandom I know nothing about except that it's RPS, which I'm squicked by?

This is quite good, I don't know bandom well enough to judge characterisation, but I liked the story overall and thought Dean and Sam were mostly IC. The plot's interesting, but you do need to read the linked prequel first. The ending isn't a cliffhanger, but it does feel like the writer's setting up a sequel, as the story isn't resolved at all.
S P O I L E R S I'd have liked some resolution as to whether or not Pastor Jim was possessed when he was doing all the bad shit, and I know he's only a minor part of this story, but a character death warning would have been nice.
The pairings are a little misleading, Gerard has sex with a shapeshifter, who has shifted to look like Dean, and Dean experiences the sex like he was there. (unexplained mystical connection)

I don't mind the art, it's pretty, but random pics of road sign and library is really distracting. :(
