I openly admit that I didn't read this whole post. I didn't even skim the whole thing.

The reason for this is, it became very quickly clear what your stance was on various things.

I won't try to convince you that drinking or swearing are ok. I'll ask you why Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding, and shared a cup of wine at the last supper, if these are such sins...and say no more about it.

What I WILL ask is, do you think that the desire to stop sinning forever is an entirely perfect desire in itself? Do you think that leading a righteous life is a righteous aim?

Or do you think that it is Jesus' sacrifice that has made you ALREADY righteous? That in His eyes, you ALREADY don't sin, because it is removed, expunged, forgiven?

Don't lose sight of the cross for all the people telling you how to bow before it. The whole purpose was freedom. Freedom from guilt, sin, and failure.

I felt i didn't fully answer your questions, so here's my straight-up answer.

"Do you think that leading a righteous life is a righteous aim?
OR
Do you think that it is Jesus' sacrifice that has made you ALREADY righteous?"

God's grace goes beyond my understanding, and it would be characteristic of our all-powerful, totally loving God to make us 'already righteous.' Are we born having already committed sin, needing to atone the moment we are able to learn right from wrong? Or are we just born with 'sin nature,' the tendency to commit sin? I think the answer of this will answer your posted questions.

Thanks for helping me think.
