she should be kept away from the general population until she can get into a car without being boozed up.

I'm totally with you Joe! I honestly cant believe this is still one of the VERY few states left in this country where insurance isnt mandatory. IMO, it should be! Perhaps that would keep those that dont belong behind the wheel of car anyway off the roads. Well, to a certain extent. I think its utter bullshit that people are allowed to operate a vehicle and not "really" deal with the consequences financially if they injure someone or total their car because they wont get insurance or "cant afford" insurance. Pfft! Sure, you could try and "sue" an uninsured motorist. Unfort, this story usually plays out.. if they have nothing, you'll most likely, get nothing. And chances are, they have nothing if they cant even get liability on the car for God sakes! I hope you can get SOMETHING out of this woman Joe. How frustrating.

My thoughts exactly. It kills me that drivers aren't required to have insurance. Seems like a no-brainer.

I can't believe this woman was sober when she hit the van. She should never, ever be allowed on the road again.

I agree that WI is ass-backwards in this regard, and I have been in your shoes before. However, this shit still happens in insurance-required places like CA. You probably are not going to get anything unless her employer would be willing to garnish her wages, and you have to do all of that leg work yourself. Suing someone in small claims court is very simple, and if nothing else the judgement that you are sure to get against her will hinder her ability to get loans, credit, etc.

That's my hope. I've basically thrown in the towel financially. I got fcked and that's that. I hate to sound vengeful, but if I can make it that much harder for her to do this again, I will.

Life's unfair, we move on. That doesn't mean we cant punch back on occasion. ;)

so did she have a suspended license when she hit your vehicle? sounds like she shouldn't be driving at all!
