You can hide for as long as you want, but the second you come back, you're going to have to face the consequences to what you've done. You should use the time to think of ways to help fix things, which might improve some people's opinion of you.

I believe you may have acquired a grey genitikitty by default. Since no-one else seems to have expressed a serious interest. [ I am not counting the creature Gollum, a damp cave is no place for a cat, and he's away from home all the time anyway!]

That is, if Bast approves. I rather think she's the best judge of suitable homes.
