I sympathise with your response; if anything else what DiBona said to you (going by what you've said here) is basically ad hominem and you've every right to feel upset (which is different to angry).
It's a bit easy to throw stones though - there are plenty of FOSS communities in which negativity like that you describe is at least tolerated if not commonplace :(

I watched you fight the good fight when we shared the cube at RHAT, and your unwillingness to let them take the easy route, and standing up for not only your principles, but the principles of the community, does put people on the defensive

I don't really understand the computer stuff you're talking about, but you never seemed like an angry person to me. It's natural to get angry in some situations, of course, like when someone is a jerk to you like it sounds like that guy was.
