Away Mode

Alright. Here we go... I've already bitched about this to other corners of the internet, but now you furry kids who read this will get a chance to respond... and respond you should! I'm always curious as to -why- people actually do this, and what their -possible- reasons could be... It blows my mind ( Read more... )

It's not about people being rude or illogical... it's just a conspiracy to slowly drive you insane. ^^

Not that I ever do this or anything... nope. >.>

I had given some thought to the 'it's entirely designed to ruin my life' theory, but I was hoping noone would validate it. ;)

Get off 'away' mode! I need to start one of those internet-grass-roots-movements, or something...

...I don't think I've ever actually used 'away' or 'busy' mode before...
I do admit I usually come on and appear as 'offline' until I see who's on and if I even feel like chatting. I only have it set like that though 'cause my MSN automatically pops up the moment I turn on my comp.

I use the things as they were meant. I don't need to log off every time I have some menial chore to do, and I use the "busy" mode when I'm actually doing something, it's supposed to indicate that my response time may vary.

and I appear offline when |I just don't wanna be bugged.

I use invisible mode because I hate everybody. Well, not really hate, I guess, I just prefer to be selective with who I talk to all the time, and who I can only deal with on a infrequent basis.

That's why I liked ICQ's selective invisibility options, because I could pick folks I was always visible to, folks I could toggle on and off, and folks that I had effectively blocked unless I went to an 'open chat' mode. But then everyone stopped using ICQ in favour of trend-whoring to Microsoft and their conveniently bundled-with-the-OS software...

I use away mode when I'm actually away, but usually "away" ends up being "went away and intended to be back soon, but got side tracked, and never quite made it back to the comp to disconnect, see you tomorrow...." which is unfortunate, but not really my fault.

I AGREE!!!

I find myself always thinking this. But I guess some people are just very... avoidish.

I realize you don't know me, but I was wondering if I could have your MSN? I'm a friend of Taylor and Courtney's, and have heard so much about you. If not, I understand.
