clean it up

new washer.  My old one quit last Firday in the middle of the cycle.  I luckily got it to drain and finish the load before it was put out to pasture.  It wasn;t that old-between 10 and 15 years, but the gal at Sears said the life span of a washer was 10 years.  It is cheaper for the companies to make and sell new washers, then to keep parts for ( Read more... )

you are supposed to leave it open, but if you have pets or small children that is not a good idea. Even open it can still mold/mildew, it has to do with the water not draining properly. there are several law suits right now against manufacturers of front loaders because of the problem. Some companies are making the seal around the door "smell", i.e. vanilla, so you don't notice the mold/mildew odor.
