1. I used a pillow case, popped in my knitting, and washed it on hot in the washing machine. That was wool though. I don't know if mohair would be more delicate or anything.
2. Did you know there's books and books about knitting for men? And a magazine? They're published and selling and everything. Heck, there's even websites (also here and hereand here... and I could continue but I won't) ! And a CBS news article!
Tell your family that your son is on the cutting edge of a trend, and if they're clever they'll all jump on board now while it's still cool to do so. ;)
3. No help here. That confuses the hell out of me too. If you figure it out, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
Nibble knits too, btw, so The Prince is not alone in the 'boys who knit' category ::g::
Most people don't have a problem with it, but where there have been a few funny looks, I've taken great delight in pointing out that men knitting is nothing new. Fair Isle sweaters were traditionally made by the fishermen when it was too stormy to go out to sea rather than their wives, whose work didn't stop just because of the weather, and we all know how complicated those patterns are. And I think it was the men who knitted in Egypt as well.
I know nothing at all about felting. I would assume that it's got something to do with fuzzing up all the beautiful long strands you get with your mohair. So maybe re: hand washing it, they're talking about rubbing it together? (I have no idea, obviously!)
re: knitting in the circular, I'd give akire_yta a buzz. She's been working with circular needles for years. :)
Oh - I'm making heaps of potholders at the moment too :D But crochet ones. We've suddenly got a bunch of coasters, and I've made half a dozen for a friend who said "wow, they're awesome!" for a house-warming gift. Hopefully she wasn't pulling my leg!!
