Was this in a compilation of some sort? If so, what was it? I've read a little bit of his stuff in the ENGL 102 textbook, but I obviously haven't read enough :)

this was in "Old Shirts & New Skins" which is a collection of his poetry. I think Sherman Alexie is the best god damn Native American writer in the world

Dig. I'm gonna check it out. I'm itching for some good prose and novels, 'specially 'cause I haven't been reading much for the last year or so.

By the way, did you ever get through "Hegemony or Survival"? What'd you think of it?

nah dude. it's still on my shelf. i'm intimidated by it and haven't read more than a couple pages.

and getting back to reading when you're stuck where you are sounds like a great idea. between the public library systems and pima and the uofa you've got access to a million great books. the book list i typed into my myspace profile are all the books i would recommend if you're looking for other suggestions.

i started "middlesex" last night. it's by the dude who wrote the "virgin suicides" and it's really good but thick as fuck. i haven't read a book this long since "almanac of the dead" by leslie marmon silko when i was 16 or 17 (which i highly recommend)...well, "one hundred years of solitude" was long and amazing too and i just got around to that one like a year or two ago....
