A couple of our guy friends who are on the trip with Carl were joking around on Facebook about Carl being hit with a horseshoe.  Even though I knew that if it was serious they would have called, I still got overly worried and called the cabin looking for Carl, who I guess had no idea what was going on.  I got all upset about it, and I just feel so ( Read more... )

No, you are not over sensitive. If that happened to me, I would do the exact same thing. Maybe I am too gullible also....

You said it! What a great idea. I am totally going to make myself a lovely drink tonight and forget this ever happened.

Thank you, Mimi, you sweetie.

no you are not - no softer than any of us! That would have made me mad! And worried. And then madder. And worried-er. etc etc etc
And it's just plain hard to single parent.

I want to take you out for a drink!

That kind of "joke," the kind that elicites real concern from people who care, just pisses me the hell off. I've told off friends for it, and many of them are no longer in my circle of trusted people. If someone's willing to play my concern for their amusement, I don't need them in my life.

Which is to say that this sort of thing takes me in, too, but instead of feeling that I'm somehow at fault for being taken in, I get royally pissed off at the people making a joke out of my very real caring.
