Also...there have been several interesting articles about colitis and why it's so much more prevalent in North America than third world countries. Some doctors feel that one of the factors may be how exposed we were as babies to various forms of bacteria (so the less exposure = higher chance of getting sick). Or how it's not really found in those originating from China or South Africa but is VERY prevalent in Ashkenazi (spelling) Jews (which is where my family originates from). Maybe something in the diet????
But the main is....how wierd!!!! It's so sad to think of the medical knowledge that is lost to history. If only there was a way for archeologists to find out previous medical history.....
