Anyway, so, my second (temporary) job is awesome and basically I get to continue work on the library project (doing miscellaneous supplemental stuff) with my friends and boyfriend. I've been trying to figure out gouache for a while. I got a set near Christmas-time and haven't had as many opportunities as I'd like to use it. So, for an open-ended landscape drawing assignment I decided I'd try using them.

Weird realization: I think I may have been in love with backgrounds this whole time. I've said to myself "I hate BGs!" probably solely because that's what most amateur cartoonists who can't draw too well say. I notice that 4/5 of the images I save for artistic inspiration are amazingly designed background pieces/background-oriented conceptual art. ( Read more... )
