Where in West Philly? I live out on 49th near Walnut. I'm a huge fan of West Philly--so much so that Lou and I decided to buy a house here a few summers ago!

Hello. I got your request to be added to my friends list @ opendiary. I would very much like to do that, but I would like you to call me first so we can talk. Thank you.

Hi Zee, I’m Orien, nice to meet you here in cyber land…I’ve been west since february. How are you liking it here? Your posts are inspiring, I used to write way more and then bang life hit me in the ass and shook everything all up. I’m trying out a writers group at the way gay center for “queer writers”. I tried to get into a west philly group starting at ASPACE that no go on that. Also, do you know about the Queer Conf. for Woman of Color? It’s taking place in April at the William Way Center….how do you stay inspired? Are you in school? I think college was the last place I really really would write. Oh Audre Lorde, I miss you and other lost poets in my head…Plath,Sexton,Clifton and so on and. I need radical queer brown poets to inspire me because that is how I am identified. Be Peaceful, Orien Weathersby

how far west are you? you must be in the hipster west? i'm on the edge of gentrified west philly/ u.city. i'm where the smell of crown fried chicken still lingers heavily through the neighborhood as Drexel and Penn, & scene kids ache for the day when rent is far to high for bigmama and her 50 year old son (who doesn't contribute); who soon has to abandon her row home as it gets sliced in to four apartments with a porch populated by old road bikes with Ulocks. (my bike was stolen a day after i moved in! argh) sorry you were rejected by that writing group. i'm sure i would have been rejected, too, if i tried. that ole cliquish space. you know the marginalized whose queerness becomes a standard for judgment. smh. i been thinking about starting a writing group for queer/poc women/transwomen in west philly. i don't know. i know about that conference. i really want to go. but, i volunteer on Saturdays with city year & i hate to miss it. but, i'll see. i hate to miss it. how do i stay inspired? radical queer brown writers are definitely ( ... )
