I went to this acupuncturist recently for health problems, and she had been recommended to me as super-cool and body-positive by a trans guy who volunteers there, so I never saw it coming. But as soon as I get in there, she just eyeballs me and she's like "well, you're really fat, so you'll have to stop drinking soda if you ever want to get relief from your menstrual symptoms..." and then she went into an etc etc blah blah blah based on her stereotypes and ideas of fat people and what they know about health and eating. As soon as I could get a word in I was like "excuse me, you talking to me about losing weight right now is really a barrier to the care I came in here for" and she did mostly shut up then. Although it was definitely a "truce" in which she was judging me with her eyeballs and making sure I knew that if I just wanted to listen to her I could have a so-called beautiful body and great health

People are so blinded with false information and diet diet diet, like you said all they see is “fat”, we are more than that, WAY more and that is so annoying to be going for treatment, like acupuncture (healing arts) and to be questioned and told what to do, as if you don’t know what your bodies needs are, hello that’s why you came in for the session. So ridiculous! I just hate assumptions, just because I’m fat, you don’t know but its ok for you to assume and tell me what I should and should not eat. Maybe I eat mouse shit maybe I don’t, it’s not anyone’s business, in fact I eat hella healthy and don’t even deal with fucking soda but im fat so its safe space (apparently) for you to judge me and my body and the choices I make for my body, I don’t think so. And its been happening over and over recently because I have come up against some medical issues, mind you me PCP is totally awesome and supports me and my choices, it’s all the other fucktards that act as healthcare providers that have been giving me nothing but hell, not to
