Genevieve Valentine has written at least one short-story tie-in to Mechanique. I was particularly fond of "Study, for Solo Piano."

Published by me in OMNI, years ago. Don't know if you can find it:
Sanders, Scott Russell--THE CIRCUS ANIMALS' DESERTION
An engineer of beasts is deserted by his mechanical animals when he tries to take his rag-taggle circus on the road. 8500

This one should be easy and Peter is a doll about reprints.

Straub, Peter--SOMETHING ABOUT A DEATH, SOMETHING ABOUT A FIRE
Bobo's magic taxi appears mysteriously in the middle of a circus tent and the audience all see different things happen. Weird little short. Surreal, magical realism. About perception and miracles. 1500

Oh.
The wonderful Winter Quarters by Howard Waldrop is a lovely little piece about the resurrection of a variation of woolly mammoths and their appearance in a circus. 4200
I can put you in touch with Howard...
