The Acting Bug

May 15, 2011 20:51

I created my LJ to be a sort of escape for myself, where I could get fun and creative and talk on and on and ON about becoming whatever it is I want to become, without fear of...well, anything, but the more people watch what I'm doing, the more I feel that I should keep myself private. Why is that ( Read more... )

LOVE this post, and I love you. We should be friends! Actually, I'm a little devastated that we haven't formally met yet. D: This is a great attitude, and great outlook on the industry and people in general. Rock on, girl.

I love this post too! And I so agree that actors, or any other person in any other field, should stop being so competitive with each other and be friends - that's part of what I love about acting, the camaraderie and the support that you give and receive. Support each other in times of hardship and cheer each other on when the going gets good :)

You are, and have always been, awesome. *^^*

You are amazing, and brilliant, Tia, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise... I've been wanting to get into acting nearly my whole life...but never fit with what I thought Hollywood was about, so I'd given up. Until I discovered voice acting/voice over work. I want it so badly I can nearly taste it...I just want to ACT, and to show people what I can do, exactly like you said! I still have fears and doubts...What if I make my demo, and it gets shot down every time? I know I won't give up...but I'd have to at some point, and I fear that would be a dark day for this normally happy person. Reading this made me feel better, a little more hope... Thank you Tia, for being so awesome and sweet! I need to meet you in person sometime soon! <3 *squishy hug*

Its all so freaking true lol. I know sometimes people get stressed about things, related and unrelated to work, and sometimes it might come off the wrong way, and thats okay, but its usually pretty easy to distinguish between stress and just plain old bad attitudes. I've never liked the competition part either. It makes me feel icky inside when I feel like people are trying to make things into a competition. Sure, its disappointing when I dont get a role I want, but you're so right about the fact thats its not a reflection on us as actresses when that happens. It doesnt mean we suck or anything, it just means someone else was better suited. And frankly, its a win win situation because at least we got the experiance and the privelage to audition in the first place. Everything that could happen after that is just icing on the cake. So the imaginary petition against petty and unecessary competitive attitudes? You have my signature <3

As all your readers above mentioned, this is such a beautiful post, and if only MORE people had this sort of attitude in their lives over ANYTHING they do, the world wouldn't be as cynical. God bless you, missy :)

And yes, this all holds through in all aspects of life as well -- I've been in the art field (both pro and hobby) for years now, and artists (especially those in hobby fandoms) behave the exact same way. Afterall, art is just acting with a pencil. I wish more people thought like you!
