[ considers asking for Sam, but is apparent this isn't the poor boy. ]

Please let them be, Lucifer.

The time for sitting by idly has passed, Lilith. I gave them their moment of respite.

And now, it's my turn.

I don't mean your enemies... [As much as she dislikes conflict, Lilith knows the hurt of war.] That life you extinguished made you no harm.

[Flicking thru the Network and...what's this? A man with impeccable taste in clothing and wielding incredible power??!!

The vampire needs no further invitation. He hurries to the Square's 'show' and takes a ringside seat up top on a single story shop's flat roof.]

Why did you do that?

Call it making a statement, if you will.

What you did was unnecessary!

I think you'll find that in the grand scheme of things, everything you monkeys do is unnecessary.

Hey, how'd you do that? I thought your powers were temporary? [ and that is ... definitely not firebending. but elle is too busy staring in surprise. ]

Not these powers. These are a birthright. [A small twitch of the corner of his lips into something of a smirk.] This is God's Grace.

So, what do you call plowing all those guys down? Evangelism? Or divine judgment?

I'd call it Spring cleaning.

[ Midst the onslaught of nerves and pandemonium, Ben Hawkins heads against the rush of people, forcing his way through shoulders and elbows, to reach the epicenter of trouble. Ben, as usual, is drawn to playing the hero in dire situation-- it's an indelible aspect of his makeup, just as much as its part of his nature to screw things up.

There's an extra draw to the situation; an aura that snags right deep into his skin and refuses to let go, pulling him forward. The closer he gets, the faster that headache spawns into his head, growing stronger and stronger, until the pain reaches his jaw. Something is weakening him. ]

The hell's going on--

[Lucifer is expecting his family - he even called for them to come - and the bond between them is such that he would feel their presence long before they actually confronted him.

But this feeling, this...twisting in his core; it's a sense of revulsion and delight and fear like he's never felt before. It's strangely compelling, and Lucifer's eyes follow it straight to the source. An unfamiliar man to both the angel and the man, and isn't that the most interesting thing?]

Well, well. Aren't you just a bag of mystery.

[ Ben Hawkins is not all up and goo goo eyed with the lord. Only the lord knows the last time he prayed. Neither does he look the part of god's human action figure. A hayseed like this in greasy overalls and dust like a second skin? His language is coarse, his look is rough, yet he shines, literally, with the mark of the lord; an aura of light traced around him as if a star of flesh. Ben can't see it, neither the people running past him, only those who have the eyes to see it.

The corner of his eye catches a splotch of red on the ground-- the can't be, can it?]

You-- You tell me what's goin' on here- [ There goes his battle cry before properly accessing the situation. A wave of power, familiarity, flows like an incoming wave off the white-clad man, sending Ben into another fit of pain. He tries not to show it, but distress is evident in the tight clench of his jaw. ]

[Lucifer watched Ben's reactions, still as a statue. The way his eyes tend to wander when he's speaking to someone; the usual smugness on his face when he's staring someone down - his usual lax, almost playful demeanor falls away into something most haven't seen in him in two thousand years. Stoic, and silent.

He knows this Light. There is only One in the universe that can match this Light.

He's not afraid, not really. But while there is an undeniable pull towards whatever this man is supposed to be, there's also the strong urge to leave.]

You...aren't the average monkey, are you? [Thaat's more like him. He'll tilt his head.] Who are you? Or maybe what are you is the better question.
