Well then.
After getting home from work today I had a few moments of peace before my mom brings my attention to the fact that my beloved little pony is seriously and urgently ill.
What a lovely afternoon that was.
The vet was super nice though, and the pony's stabilized now. It all comes down to how he's feeling tomorrow morning.

He didn't want to walk, would suddenly cramp up and wobble and sway, and constantly wanted to lie down and roll over on his back. It eventually got so bad that I had to walk him in the riding stable since it's a soft surface, because he was basically throwing himself on the ground to roll over, completely disregarding momentum.
Thankfully the veterinary arrived pretty quickly after mom made the call. Since mom's been in the horse business for ages she knows a lot of the vets semi-personally, and they know she doesn't fool around when she calls and says it's serious.
So the vet was basically equipped with medication straight out of the car, just asking if it was the right pony before getting to work. She gave him an intravenous dose of meds that eased the cramping and he responded very well to that very quickly. After that he got a small dose of pain relief, and we got water and paraffin oil into his stomach by tube. He was so unbelievably co-operative when we stuffed a tube through his nose down ( ... )
