"Looking for your mudblood girlfriend?" Narcissa shot at James, relaxing against a table not too far away; she didn't care if anyone overheard her. "She's not worth it, you know, too pure for your lot. But then again," she shrugged, "your lot are traitors."
James only grinned at the pretty blonde across from him. "You know, Narcissa," he said nonchalantly, as if he hadn't been offended by her words, "you are far too pretty to saying such mean things." As it were, James wanted to hex her head on backwards right about then but it was much better to not get angry, that he knew from experience.
"Yes, Potter, and you are far too talented and pure to be hanging with that lot," she said, suggestively hinting that perhaps his allegiances were wrong. "They're too thick and immature for the likes of you." Tired of leaning, she moved so she was instead sitting on the tabletop, and then crossed her legs like any lady would.
James, despite his hatred for anything Slytherin, could not deny himself the privelage to look at a good-looking bird when he saw one. His eyes unconciously traveled up her pale legs, noticing how part of her thigh was just barely showing, then moved upwards towards her face. "It's a pity you're Slytherin," he said, shaking his head, peering into her blue eyes. Then he winked, smiling, "Who's to say I'm not immature and thick?"
Lily entered the classroom with Sarah, laughing about something the other girl had said. She watched as James' eyes followed Narcissa across the room, arching an eyebrow. Sitting down at a nearby table, she focused on what Sarah was saying, ignoring the small prick of jealousy that she'd felt seeing James looking at Narcissa. It wasn't that she liked James looking at her, of course not. It's just that he was supposed to look at her, not some snotty Slytherin...
Waiting, as not to be rude, for a lapse in their conversation, James watched Lily and Sarah unable to get Narcissa out of his head. "O Hark! What light through yonder doorway breaks? It is Sarah, and Lily is the like the sun....flaming, brilliant, red..." he trailed off, not knowing where to go from there. "How are you lovely ladies this afternoon?"
Sirius, also flushed but grinning broadly, followed Remus into the classroom and winked at Lily. "Yup, busy revising. So busy in fact that we very nearly didn't make it." he flopped in a chair next to James. "Shame we didn't get a chance to do more..." he smiled and looked up at his boyfriend from under his fringe. "...revision."
James watched silently as Lily's attention was diverted to his best mates, who of which looked as if they'd just come out of a broom closet in which they were not searching for brooms. "Revision," he muttered under his breath, rolling his eyes. As long as they were distracted talking with one another, he could go back to pondering Narcissa's motives.

"Fine, thank you, James. Anthing in particular you wanted, or is it just general irritation today?"
