I'm feeling good. I went grocery shopping yesterday and finally got some staples for my house: not a ton, but I can at least make some simple recipes, and I have things on hand so I can branch out a little bit at a time without dropping $50. I mostly got pasta and canned tomato products and beans, and it should be enough to last me for a while and ( Read more... )

Fantastic failure? Are you kidding me? I really admire all that you've done and who you are.

Thank you. I think sometimes I have very unrealistic expectations.

What Lauren said. Sometimes I forget how young you are because you are so incredibly smart and you've done all this cool stuff. So, seriously, if you ever start thinking you're a failure? Please smack yourself over the head.

She just shook her head and said, "I'll never understand people like you." I'm not really sure who she was lumping me in with.

What a strange girl. I'm especially baffled since she was also a philosophy student. You'd think she'd be able to look outside the box.

Thanks. <3 I'm not feeling that way now, but it's hard to shake oneself out of a funk.

She is a little bit weird. I try not to take my fellow philosophy students seriously most of the time, because it's rare that they do themselves. (Although it's the ones who do who most need to not be taken seriously.)

Where do you find those? I was at WFC yesterday and sort of vaguely looking for curry flavoring and didn't spot anything.

When I was in Chicago I tried coconut curry chicken from a Thai restaurant and it is what started my love affair with coconut milk. I go through phases (typically around January) where I really want more of it. We tried cooking rice in coconut milk (substituting half the water for coconut milk, IIRC) and the result was delicious - sweet and coconut-y, but subtly, so it worked with savory foods as well.
