I realized yesterday that I'm at a stage where I can just as easily stay out of the rat race as integrate. I've spent the last twenty years on the edge of the race or outside and I don't know that I want to enter; on the other hand, the pressure to integrate is intense

That's pretty much exactly it. I really, really like the communities that I'm a part of and I missed them so much when I was in England. And in a lot of ways I'm already doing what I want to do with my life, it's just that I need a little reorganization and to finish this one set of things (i.e., college) so I can move on to other things (i.e., earning a bit more than $500/month).

Ah, sorry about that! D: I'm glad you were able to find them and they hadn't managed to get down to the basement/outside or anything. I suppose they enjoyed their time exploring though.

I do like larger dogs, but I'll probably get a shelter dog-I get all wibbly when I think of shelter dogs. :(
