So, I'll be living in Fairbanks, Alaska this summer while working as a Park Ranger for the Alaska Public Lands Information Center. Anyone have any tips on getting there by car, finding housing, or must-do activities while I'm there?

So, I got notice today that I have received conditional acceptance into Duke's Nicholas School of the Environment for their dual degree MEM/MF program. It's conditional because they want me to take a statistics course, a calculus course, and a microeconomics course before I enroll (I can take one of these my first semester). Cornell University is eliminating its theatre department. I will be laid off as of the end of this academic year. So much for the "Arts" portion of the "College of Arts and Sciences." Wish me luck with my MEM grad school applications and NPS seasonal applications.

Yosemite Valley was infested (and this is the correct word in all respected) with people who have little if any appreciation for the outdoors. Much of the valley is paved, and little bits of litter were strewn all over the valley floor - a cigarette butt here, a plastic bottle there. So, in keeping with tradition, I have chosen today as a good day to work on vacation plans since I have a flu. I will be headed to extreme southern FL from Dec 14-23 this year to explore Biscayne, Dry Tortugas, and Everglades National Parks. Of all the cats in the world, I get the one that can't figure out how to use a litter box! So, another trip to PetSmart later, I now have a litter box with a lid and a little entryway at the front.
