By the way, if you knew about the incredible awesomeness of Tom Waits and didn't tell me, you get ten demerits and a spanking.

From a prison warden.

Named Beverly.

But... but... his voice is so... dangerously delicious. Maybe deliciously dangerous. Like a good cliche about honey-coated gravel or something. Like a Mr. Hyde to Leonard Cohen's Dr. Jekyll. Mmm, yes.

To think, I risk a spanking, all because of A Little Drop of Poison...

Only the most incredibly awesome singer/songwriter dude that no one ever told me about.

Think Rowlf the Dog from the Muppets, only after The Muppet Show went off the air, leaving him out-of-work and getting only a few gigs at dank Lower East Side piano bars, often capping the night with a fifth of cheap bourbon and waking up in some grungy hotel room with women of ill repute.

"Nighthawks at the Diner". There is a concert from about that
same era at Wolfgang's Vault. That's Elvira on the cover
of his Small Change album. Didn't you know he sang "Only
the Innocent Dream" during the closing credits of "Smoke".
