Four Things That These Damn Kids These Days Do That I Just Don't Get.

1. Audio and video blogging.Dear Internet Strangers: I am a Very Busy Person with no time for your minutes of hemming and hawing. I can read faster than you can babble. Please post your thoughts in coherent text so that I may skim them at the speed of thought. If I like what you have to say, I may then be inclined to watch any videos you may ( Read more... )

Wow. I thought I was the only one.

1.: I've heard from rainyear, who searches out good podcasts, that the majority of said podcasts are nothing more than people recording themselves just hanging out. They post what any professional would consider an out-take, thereby robbing it of any humor it would have had if it were acknowledged as the botched recording that it is.

2.: You need more than the HUD and one-hand control. What you desire is the direct neural uplink to the web, so you can have other people's very experiences downloaded directly into your mind. That way, you won't even have to live your own life; other people can do it for you.

3.: I've often said of this device, only in America would we need a machine to watch television for us. How lazy are we that we need a machine to decide what TV shows we want to watch? And, I love the fact that the big selling point of DVR is that now, you can record a show and watch it later. Guess what, people? We've had it for years. Years, I tell you!

4.: What is Facebook, anyway?

Leave it to me to read "neural uplink" as "neutral pink."

Facebook is yet another social networking site. Kind of like MySpace, but different. It was originally only for the aforementioned Kids These Days, since you needed a .edu email address to join. Now it's open to everyone.

Have your forgotten the barn raising today? Better cook up a basket
of chicken and get in your buggy and get down there.

I've also lost grip on the newest things. Probably more a reflection
of my aging rather than a lack of coolness on the new things. I love
the new paradigm created to basically combines these media into our
own channels. No more of CBS or NY Times telling us what we need to
know. I have a buddy who I asked what he was doing one day reply
"Taking advantage of the many mediums available to me".

You know what never gets old or improved upon? A nice quiet drunk at the corner bar.

Even the nice, quiet drunks get old eventually. But they may improve with age.

HAHA. I have a facebook account pretty much because my friends demanded it of me. My cell is not an electronic leash- I leave it in my backpack or on vibrate unless I'm expecting a call. I like spiffy technology, but I'm not enamored with it.

Dear Starboogie.

I must insist that you add me on Faceborg. Even though you will probably never see this comment, in much the same way I would probably never see a comment pasted on my Lubegerbil.

Nonetheless.

Mitch Bell
BMO Financial Group.

do find me, pretty please?
